University of Copenhagen in Denmark has scheduled to review 24 Iranian films during a program in September.
Iran’s Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC) announced that the Danish academic center will screen Iranian short, documentary and animated films on September 1.
The films include ‘Mannequins of Qale Hasankhan’ directed by Sam Kalantari, ‘New Wave’ directed by Ahmad Talebi-Nejad and ‘Three Women’ directed by Mostafa Emami.
Some internationally-admired works will also go on the event’s screen, including ‘Ascribed Achievements’ directed by Samaneh Shojaei, ‘Darkened Water’ directed by Alireza Dehqan and ‘The Servant’ directed by Farnoush Abedi.
Shojaei’s ‘Ascribed Achievements’ which is a new experience with grotesque narration and real images, tells the story of an old boy, who is dissatisfied with his inborn appearance and decides to end his life. But his failed suicide leads to a new situation in his life.
The acclaimed animation has taken part at several international events, including Fest Anča International Animation Festival in Slovakia, the Montreal International Animation Film Festival in Canada and Florida Film Festival in the US.
Dehqan’s documentary ‘Darkened Water’ (Owsia) went on screen at events such as the SCINEMA International Science Film Festival in Australia.
This fascinating well-made documentary demonstrates the bad condition of the aqueduct and the fact that it is going toward destruction because of the bureaucratic system and corruption.
'The Servant' narrates the familiar story of a master and his servant, the story of a writer’s encounter with a gigantic insect, a cockroach.
The cockroach becomes a servant but gradually begins to realize that it deserves better conditions, so it tries to turn the table and change the game in its own favor.
The man, however, attempts to preserve the current situation but soon realizes that the game has no rules.
‘The Servant’ previously won the Best Animation award at the 33rd Tehran International Short Film Festival in Tehran and the Best Short Film title at the 13th edition of Fantaspoa - International Fantastic Film Festival in Brazil.
The Iranian animation has also won an award at the 14th London Independent Film Festival in the UK and the best animation award of the 2017 edition of the Silver Scream Fest in California, the US.
It won Best Short Animation award at Querétaro International Film Festival in Mexico recently.
